Why I Created My Radical Self-care Journal

After making the commitment to transform my lifestyle, I knew I needed a guide-map that would assist me in setting a daily self-care practice that would also help to expand my consciousness and realise my intentions of self-healing.

Stepping into my new lifestyle needed me to establish new positive habits and a self-care journal was a great tool for moving into a healthier lifestyle by:

  • Creating my healing foundation
  • Setting my goals  and objectives
  • Tracking my progress in an easy and fun way

There are many styles of journaling, here are just a few examples:

Bullet journaling: Combines lists, planning, and reflection with a dotted notebook for flexibility.

Gratitude journaling: Focuses on appreciating the positive aspects of your life to boost mood and well-being.

Art journaling: Uses mixed media like drawing and collage to express yourself creatively.

Dream journaling: Records your dreams to help you remember them and explore their potential meaning.

Stream of consciousness journaling: Free-writing without stopping to capture unfiltered thoughts and feelings.

Benefits Of Radical Self-care Journaling

There are many benefits in the practice of Journaling. Journaling is healing and can be a great teacher in your life. I wanted to get really clear about my values, my desires and the direction that was best for me to take to realise my aspirations.

Some of the benefits of journaling are:

Enhances Self-awareness Writing down my thoughts and feelings helps me gain clarity on what is going on inside of me. By reflecting on my experiences, I have been able to

identify the areas in my life where I need extra support, the patterns in my emotions, my mindset, behaviour and the situations that triggers stress.

Develops Emotional Awareness and Discernment

Journaling provided me a safe space to express some of my most difficult emotions that I found challenging when sharing with others. Getting them out on paper helped me to acknowledge my feelings and understand the root of those feelings much more effectively. Most of all, Journaling has helped me to embrace my creativity and my connection with my higher self.

Opens You To The Power and Potency Of Gratitude

It is truly amazing what happens within me when focussing on what I am grateful for. It created a new and fresh way of being that is absolutely free. Appreciating  all of me, the loved and unloved parts, reduced my stress levels, elevated my mood and allowed me to rest well, sleep deeply .

Sets and Tracks Goals

My self-care journal has become a great tool for setting my goals related to my well-being. Writing down my goals and objectives in one place allows me to track my progress over time and make the adjustments where it is needed.

Enhances Creativity and Problem-Solving

Journaling sparked my creativity and helped me approach my challenges from new angles. Once my pen was in my hand, new solutions automatically poured through me that I may have missed if I was not Journaling. One of the greatest opportunities that has arisen through journaling is that I love authoring short creative aspirational stories as a means of re-creating my life and now I do this to support others.

Journaling Became My Comforting Mother

I noticed that a tenderness, just like the tenderness of a mother’s touch flowed through me during my journaling times that stayed with me throughout my day. Journaling is my way of offering a form of self-compassion to myself. Journaling soothes my mind and brings comfort to my inner child.

This is the style of journaling I use in the mornings as soon as I awake. Stream-of-consciousness journaling is where you allow yourself to write automatically and freely without editing or filtering your thoughts. It is a powerful tool for tapping into the subconscious and unlocking hidden desires, fears, or creative ideas that can inform your personal growth and expand your sense of self.

The key to stream of consciousness journaling is simply to let it FLOW without judgement or engaging in thinking.

The Radical Self-care Journal is a powerful tool for self-discovery, emotional regulation, and growth. It is a space for you to connect with yourself, prioritise your well-being, and create a life that feels balanced and fulfilling.

  • Choose a time where you will consistently show up for yourself
  • Gather your tools (depending upon the style of journaling you choose)
  • Create a Sacred Space that will help you to become calm and relaxed
  • Now, Begin!

It is positively impactful to pick a time where you can journal consistently every day. For example, I practice stream of consciousness journaling as soon as I awake and before I drink my morning herbal drink or engage in anything external to me. This is my way of clearing and elevating my state of consciousness which allows pure fresh energy to pour into me.

Throughout the day, you can still journal as and when you desire. Yet, when you show up for yourself consistently at the same time every day you are reprogramming yourself to open your higher mind to lead your way, every day. After some time, this will happen naturally. Just to note, the benefit of practicing this way is so vast that it will need more than this blog to explore them.
